Marathon Training Day One...

Today marked day one of marathon training for me. No it wasn't a run today, but rather cross training. So today I incorporated Pauline Nordin's, "The Butt Bible" and worked on my bum. Her fitness programs are insanely awesome and she is the real deal when it comes to intense training. I have followed her training programs on/off and they always deliver results. I also did plyometrics. This consisted of intervals of box jumps, ladder and rowing.

Today also was the very first day I got to bust out my early Christmas present from St. Nick! Five Finger Vibrams running shoes! The style is Bikila and they are faaaa-reaking fabulous! Oh yeah...just fabulous. My boyfriend has been running on Vibrams for years now and swears by them. He read the book "Born To Run", and it changed his life. I read it as well, and was hooked immediately on "bare-foot" running. That topic is a whole new blog post to go over, but you can imagine how excited I was opening my gift today.
 Aren't boyfriends...err, I mean Santa Claus wonderful! ;)

Running in Cashmere...the beginning

Working out and staying fit has been a past time ever since I was 9 years old. I remember tagging along with my mother to her jazzercise classes when she would get off of work. I loved watching her workout because it was kind of a "bonding" experience I had with my mom. She would wear her multicoloured spandex shorts, a thing leotard and an off the shoulder tee with Reebok's. I remember her outfits vividly! I believe that was also when I became enamoured with active wear...to an extent, I grew up a tomboy!

Having grown up a tomboy all my life until about 19 years old, I wore my brothers sweats and my high school sweats religiously. I played just about every sport my high school had to offer with soccer being my main sport. After high school graduation I was at the gym everyday with my mom. She was still wearing her spandex outfits and I was still rocking my grey sweats and cut-off t-shirts. I finally had the confidence to wear spandex after I accompanied my mom to her kick boxing class. The instructor's name was Miss Robin, and let me tell you...she was in killer shape! Her waist was at least an 24, she had an 8 pack worth of abs and she always and I mean always looked fabulous in her colourful modernised workout outfits! She officially started my severe addiction to all things health, workouts (I absolutely 100% wanted her body) and furthermore the most budded my passion for,  "Fitness Fashion".

I believe that anyone, lady or gent can look chic and fit while getting in  an awesome workout! This blog is for the active wear brands I love (Oakley Women & Splits59 to name a few), the shoes that I live in (Vibrams!) and the workouts I do to to test out all the fun new gear that comes along my way...

Welcome to "Running in Cashmere".
